Pops and Songs of the South

On March 21st, the Atlanta Pops Orchestra hit the road for their first ever performance at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in Huntington, Tennessee. The program included a broad range of classic Pops music showcasing the American South, including Ray Bauduc and Bob Haggart’s “South Rampart Street,” Leroy Anderson’s “Serenata,” and a memorable performance of Jay Ungar’s “Ashokan Farewell,” featuring concertmaster Mary Matthews Burndrett. The concert was the second in a string of three Atlanta Pops concerts held in three different states this Spring, following the February 15th concert at the Newberry Opera House in Newberry, South Carolina. On April 7th, the Atlanta Pops Orchestra heads to Muscle Shoals, Alabama to perform at the Norton Auditorium.
