Your Legacy, The Orchestra’s Future

To ensure the Atlanta Pops Orchestra’s mission, “To be the premier provider of live popular orchestra music programming for the state of Georgia, the southeastern US, and beyond.” The Foundation has created an endowment to help sustain the orchestra. In 2005, the foundation was formed that contains the endowment fund as well as a separate trust arrangement to help fund certain events that the orchestra board deems worthy of assistance. All gifts of $5,000 or more are recognized in the orchestra’s concert programs in perpetuity.

Gifts to the Endowment Fund are the moving force which supports the Orchestra. By contributing to the Endowment Fund, one ensures that the foundation built endures and flourishes. An endowment, which may be a deferred gift, includes cash contributions (to be expended only when interest and principal reach a designated level — the principal is never invaded), bequests, specific trust arrangements tailored to the donor’s personal goals, life insurance, real estate, stock, a charitable remainder trust, a charitable annuity trust, or gifts of art or rare musical instruments.

Some benefits of establishing an endowment through the Atlanta Pops Orchestra: Honor an individual, family, company, or organization through a naming opportunity. Help ensure a secure future for the orchestra in a way that is meaningful to the donor and/or the person or entity honored or memorialized. Receive an income tax charitable deduction. Avoid significant estate taxes on contributed assets. Receive income for life if a gift is made through a charitable gift annuity. Achieve membership in the orchestra Sustainers Society which recognizes major donors (minimum of $5,000) who support the Symphony’s Endowment whether in their wills, through planned giving, or by cash gifts.

Atlanta Pop Concerts, Inc. is a 501-(c) (3) tax deductible organization. Your company may have a Matching Gifts program. Please check with your benefits administrator.

Persons interested in endowment opportunities should discuss with their personal legal and financial counsels. A printable form that contains the details of the endowment fund is available here. For information regarding the Atlanta Pops Endowment Fund, contact the orchestra’s General Manager, Leonard Altieri, at 404-636-0020.

Contributions to the Atlanta Pops Orchestra Memorial Fund support educational programs provided by the orchestra and it’s members when we visit communities during tours and run-outs. These funds help pay for master classes by our solo chair personnel and ensembles and gives partial scholarships to local young talent who perform with the orchestra.

If you wish to honor an anniversary, celebrate a special occasion or remember a loved one, please send your Memorial donation to the Atlanta Pops Memorial Fund and we will provide the family of the honored and/or remembered one with an acknowledgment card and print the recognition in certain programs if you desire. Your thoughtfulness in remembering an individual or an occasion can assist deserving young artists in many ways.

Since revenue earned from presentation guarantees covers only about half of what it costs to present concerts and educational programs, develop promotional material plus administrative costs, we rely on The Annual Fund to make up the difference. The Annual Fund is under the direction of the Board of Directors Development Committee.

The Annual Fund consists of contributions from businesses, foundations, individuals, volunteer organizations and government agencies. The fund exists to sustain the orchestra’s standard of musical excellence, diversity, and service and supports our mission statement: “To be the premier provider of live popular orchestra music programming for the state of Georgia, the southeastern US, and beyond.”

The Board of Directors acknowledges its gratitude to the following individuals, foundations, corporations, institutions, and government agencies who sustain the orchestra through donations to the Annual Fund.
